I can't believe I'm the first to comment, but anyway...

I love your site and I can't wait to visit the museum. I'm 43 now, and a university lecturer in England (in Public Relations), but 20 years ago I used my first desktop computer (a DEC workstation running WordPerfect), and a year later began a brief career as a computer journalist. So your site brings back memories of Intel 286, 386, 486, headlines about 12mHz PCs, Hercules graphics, etc. In 87 I got my hands on a Mac for the first time, used Windows for the first time, communicated via modem for the first time. I've been a Mac-head ever since, of course.

Anyway all I wanted to say was how amazing it is to find out about the people who made our computer world the way it is. Seeing the origins of the GUI is a fascinating experience. Thank you and good luck to the 'Barn!

Thank you so much John, yes indeed you are the first! I had a blog several years back but it got kind of lost in the relatively primitive tech of blogging at the time. Say did you use a DEC Robin? We have one and it runs CP/M and wordperfect (or was it a Rainbow?).

Yes, the story of the gui is indeed fascinating. If you are in our area in northern cal, please come by!

Just wondering What information you might have on a Data General Walkabout Model G 2753 Serial number 087033. I have one, not sure about what I will do with it. It was given to me by a student who was going to throw it away. I keep old stuff. I hope some one keeps me when I am old!
Thanks

Gentlemen,
I enjoyed reading your section on the GRiD compass computer. I was the NASA engineer that lead the project to place a GRiD on-board the Space Shuttle.

If I can be provide any assistance to you with historical information on that project, please feel free to contact me.

Folks, the Digibarn is looking for people to help with the updating of the www.digibarn.com web site. HTML skills, perhaps converting the site to a wiki and a passion for computing history are the only job requirements! No pay but a lot of fun and the joy of touching a lot of historic stuff for a big audience. Please contact me via the comment form at www.digibarn.com
